Which distribution takes up more hard drive space, Debian or Xandros? For that matter, which Linux takes up the least space? All I know is it can't be Mandrake, which someone told me is "bloated."
MY HD is 18 GB. Well, assuming that the tasks to be performed, and all other conditions, are the same...which is bigger, Debian or Xandros? It's not particularly important to me, but I would be more impressed with whichever took up less space.

well - linux is not like windows
when installing win98, you can do this with 250 MB
when installing win2k you need way more than that
and comparing xandros with debian is a strange thing too, since xandros comes from debian :-)
with 18 Gig of space you can install whatever you wish - debian or xandros will both take as much space as the other (i'd guess)
if you read the debian documentation, you will also find notes about partitioning, how much space an install could use etc.
That does not make sense. If Xandros is a Debian derivative, their being too different to compare is counterintuitive.
I am not experienced enough even to know how control which components or applications I have; so whatever is intalled by default is, for the moment, what I am stuck with. I don't know any better.

then go with xandros - the apps you get (either xandros or debian) will be the same and use up the same amount of space.
xandros and debian are not too different - just too similar to be comparing space usage!
seems to me that xandros will have a slightly more newbie friendly installer.
