Config X on Slackware for i810


I tried using xf86config to get x going but no dice... then i tried using the same xf86config file from my mandrake box but still didnt work... i have an i810 chipset.... anyone know how to get those to work on slack?

Your Mandrake 8.1 should definitely work with the 810 chipset since it's supported properly (I think) since XFree86 4.1.0 (which Mandy has).

As for Slack, well, that should depend on the X version you're using.

oh sorry forgot to mention... the slack i have uses the same xf86 version as mandrake i think...

If you can get it working in Mandrake then you can mount the Mandrake partition and copy the information across from the Mandrake XF86Config-4 file to the Slackware one.

thats what im saying i did and it still didnt work...

If you check your error log file, I'll bet you find a line that says '(EE) Unable to open /dev/agpgart (No such device)'

After you finish all your xf86config stuff, type 'modprobe agpgart' and then do 'startx'.
