cant install ubuntu


I am trying to install ubuntu but, it keeps on getting
to a certain point where it then says something about not being able to isnatll it says i can skip this step but this is hwere it it just about to install.

Please help

let me know if you need to know exactly what is says.

We will need to know exactly what the error is, as it might tell us if it's hardware related...

the error

The error says.
--Load installer companets from cd--
install step failed.you can try again or enter
a shell command. step that has failed : load
installer componets from cd.


thats is basically word for word what is says.
Any ideas welcome!!

on the last batch of Ubuntu CD's i ordered from them out of 10 CD's i had 3 that didn't work. I'd Say Try a new copy.

well you see this is the thing i had downloaded it once, that one didnt work so i downloded again. I am trying to use the 64bit one as i have an amd 64 3200+. should i try standard 32bit edition?

the 32 bit version should work. i'm not experienced with the 64 bit version or machines though.

I doubt 64-bit is the problem. Sounds kind of like a bad cd though. If you haven't already done so, check the MD5 sum for the file you downloaded. Also sometimes you need to burn the cd at a lower speed or it causes problems.

I had the same problem with ubuntu. Strangely enough, and it was with a new cd, after a couple of retries it worked! It sometimes takes me like 10-15 tries but it usually works fine. Have asked people but nobody could answer.. Try it!

so with the same cd just keep trying to install, it tells me it cant then reboot, try agin etc.????

I guess it could work. I mean i did burn it to disc at 52x so it only took like 2 minutes. Should i do it very slow?

yeah, sometimes doing it that fast can mess things up. Since I heard this I ususally burn at 2x, though I'm probably a little bit conservative. But 52 is probably too fast.

Thanks guys i will try this.

Its just i wanted to test out some other distro's
as so far i have only ever come into contact with
Suse linux.

Thanks for the advice i will reply with wether it worked
or not soon.
