I have been running Linux at home for about 6 years as my only OS of choice. My wife has challenged me with taking one of my older micro-computers (it's a Hades Canyon) and turning it into a replacement for our aging Roku. My intention is to have it be Linux so I can run game servers on it in the background (where it won't affect my wife's viewing) while she can use it to watch Hulu or Netflix or Disney+ or whatever other streaming service she's on these days.
It has an air remote mouse to set up for it like a remote (even has a tiny keyboard to use on the back), and I tried to set it up like the Roku using Linux Mint but there doesn't seem to be a good way to limit it to only show buttons for the channels like the Roku does.
My own efforts at research have not come up with any great alternatives. I was thinking of setting it up like a tablet, but there don't appear to be any good ways to install that onto a desktop-type computer.
So, I am asking here for some guidance from folks who probably know this far better than myself. What would be the best way to set this up?
