Wake up at determined time

Hi, is there a way to set my box to wake up only when required? The box is powered on to transfer one file a week, and that's all it does. It finishes in like 10 minutes.

The two simplest methods are:
Depending on the age of the computer there might be BIOS setting to turn the computer on at a set time.
Depending on the age of the computer if the ethernet adapter is WOL capable another computer can turn it on at a set time.

For WOL, how do I make the other computer to turn on my computer?

For the BIOS method, are there BIOS that allows you to have it turn off also?

Find the MAC address of the computer you want to wake up. On another computer (assuming it runs Linux) run
Code:
$ wol macaddress
Both computers must be in the same vlan or your network configured to allow wol packets to cross between vlans.

I've never seen one but then I've never looked either. The easiest way to turn a Linux machine off at a certain time is set up a cron job that runs
Code:
shutdown -h now
at the desired time.
