Using FC13 and FC17's KDE kmails (in maildir) mode interchangably - safe or not?

Hi guys

I have a laptop with FC13 using that distro version's kmail client.

I have a desktop with FC17 using that distro versions kmail client.

I want to take the laptop to work, receive and send mail there, then take it home at night, copy

~/.kde/share/apps/kmail/mail

to

~/.kde/share/apps/kmail/mail

on my desktop, then do the reverse the next morning before I go to work again.

Safe / possible? If a KMail instance is in maildir mode, is its maildir format downwardly -and- upwardly compatible at all?

Thanks,

Fedora 13 is end of life, out of support.

Why dont you get fedora 17 and replace the old out of support version?

My laptop is --old-- and I doubt the newer distros will still have driver and hardware support for it... I don't want to format it and find out that its hardware won't work.

The WLAN card on it, for example, has a driver that you manually compile that won't parse in newer GCC versions included with newer distros.

then try a long life distro like CentOS 6
RHEL/CentOS/SL normally do not work well on a laptop ?
without knowing just what it is ? i can not say

or if you want to "go to the dark side" and use a NON rpm distro
there is ubuntu 12.04LTS

you KNOW that you can install the gcc34-compat on fedora 17
and you can install GCC 4.1,gcc4.2,gcc4.4,gcc4.6 and 4.7 and 4.8
all at the SAME TIME

I currently have Gcc 3.4 and 4.1 and 4.6 installed

fedora normally ships with a SO NEW version of GCC that not many programs will not build ( YET) "out of the box" on fedora
WITHOUT some hacking .
- that is "par for the coarse" with fedora ,and is one of the reasons you CHOSE to use fedora .
