Hello,
I do have a similar issue in that one of my openSUSE machines appears to freeze randomly. There is no time frame, sometimes its running for days without issues, sometimes it is just for an hour. Since this just occurred lately, I feel that a faulty or incompatible update might be the cause (maybe related to the Kernel) or a disk lockup.
However, the other machines on the net are unaffected and keep running even during the lockup.
From what I can see, if you have the lockup at the same time, on two different computers, with two different OS, the issue might indeed be some external source. Maybe someone attacking or messing with the computer. I have no experience with a router itself causing the issue. I would imagine that the chance is pretty much minimal, since the router software should not really interact with your computer. It is running on the router itself, causing the router doing things, such as assigning IPs, getting DHCP information etc. In addition, I don't see how a network connection itself could cause a lockup or freeze, unless that same connection is used to send something or do something to your machine.
Have you had a chance to check error logs such as system.d on Linux and that Windows Solution tool? Have you been doing anything in particular or something you remember on both machines before they locked up? Have you run a virus software, registry checker, etc.? It might also be worth, to check network traffic and packages as well as hard-drive integrity.
Cheers,
Ben
