I installed Ubuntu 11.04 yesterday, and some problems came up. Most of them are fixed, but one thing that still annoys me is that I can no longer reorder my open windows on the Gnome Panel. I used to be able to drag them back and forth to order them the way I like, but this is is not possible anymore. I also lost the possibility to drag a file from Nautilus, down to a window on the panel, so the window would open, and drop it in that window. Now nothing happens when I try this.

I did a pretty fresh install on my computer, deleting most of the hidden config folders in my home folder, as they have aquired a lot of crap over the years, but I can't remember having to activate this functionality manually before. What can I do to get it back?

Since you said you deleted most of your hidden config "directories" in your home folder, you probably deleted your config for gnome as well. Can you try recovering it before we get too deep into this?

True. I DID delete my .gnome-folders. But as I said, I did not have to manually configure this in earlier versions of Ubuntu

Hmm... Have you tried removing the panel, and create a new one?

Well, somehow it got fixed overnight. Now it works, and I have no idea what happened. Anyway, the problem doesn't exist anymore

Hmm, that's strange. There has to be a reason why it just started working out of no where. Did you check your /var/log/messages and see if there were any messages related to your problem?

I don't know the log system very well, and I did not find any file named "messages" there, or anything about "gnome-panel". Could you please explain closer?

Also, I uninstalled compiz yesterday due to some minor annoyances. Could that have something to do with it?
