Recent Alsa update and Pulse suddenly sees 0 audio devices

I have checked around, and none of the posts with similar issues have worked for me. I updated Alsa recently, and suddenly, only my HDMI and USB devices are recognized, the aux is completely missing.

Alsa does seem to be showing ALL my devices, which is where this gets weird, I for some reason cannot select the devices listed to play from.

I'm on Arch by the way, I used the Zen kernel, though switching to the regular Kernel the problem follows and is the same. I've been doing some testing and I've tried downgrading several things related to audio packages, the biggest one being the alsa-card-profiles package, and that had no effect. I've tried resetting pulse to defaults and deleting my user settings, and I've done the same for Alsa.

Also interesting is the question whether Alsa is nicer than ASIO?

What? No. How is that even remotely related?

The question is how do I fix the issue.
