Oddest Desktop Behavior with KDE and Gnome Running together

I've got this oddest problem with my desktop. My Window Manager seems to be KDE (ie, task bar, window decoration, default programs) but my desktop is running Gnome (desktop image, desktop right click, desktop icons). What the heck? It's only my login, so I know it's a setting somewhere. I don't recall ever changing anything to make it that way. I can tell you my Display Manager is GDM, but it's always been that so I don't see why that would matter.

I was running Mandriva 06 with KDE 3.4. I recently upgraded hoping that would solve the problem to Mandriva 07 with KDE 3.5. No luck.

Anyone have this problem before or know what I can do to fix it, short of deleting the user and starting over?

it happens, at some point you used nautilus or some other gnome app that used it. it has a setting that allows nautilus to draw the desktop even if not in the gnome environment.

open nautilus and search the preferences for words to the effect "allow nautilus to display or render or whatever the desktop"(haven't used it for awhile so an not sure of the exact wording)

save, close and restart the xserver or just reboot.

Well, I searched long and hard for an option like you were talking about, but alas I found none. However, you helped me along the path. A simple ps showed me nautilus was running as the DM. I killed it, saved the session and restart and voila!

Thanks a bunch!!
