multimedia keys to autostart programs

Hi,

under kde there are custom shortcuts in systemsettings.

I assign win+play/pause key combo to start an audio player

is there a way to press only play/pause key to start an audio player , then later that play/pause key can be used as a global shortcut to play/pause an audio track

ie to create a Toggleable key under any Window manager

It cannot be done within KDE. Normally, you'd have XF86AudioPlay linked to the command to toggle pause and XF86Media to the command to launch a media player. So what you want to do is to tell KDE "use XF86AudioPlay to launch a media player, unless one is already running, in which case send the pause-toggle signal". It could be done by writing a script that implements those instructions and setting XF86AudioPlay to launch that script. Rather you than me, though!

a dbus script should be enough for a DE independent use

and my best bet is still win+play combo key

I hope someone has a better answer
