mplayer audio delay keys

I can no longer get the + and - keys to work in mplayer for audio_delay. On previous versions this has been OK. I am currently running MPlayer 1.0rc1-SUSE Linux 10.1

Even if I explicitly map + and - to audio delay in input.conf no joy. Anyone have a fix for this?

Compiling from source makes no difference. Oddly the audio delay function can be accessed through the main MythTV interface, except for the MythStream plugin
