making a shutdown icon

i wasnt sure where to ask this but i couldnt find anything in the search.
anyways i intalled gOS on an old laptop for my mom and i wanted to put a shutdown icon in the ibar to make even easier for her. but i can figure out how to do that. its not in the list of things you can add by default. so im asking if anyone knows how to add a shutdown icon to the ibar or make an icon to put on the desktop? thanks in advance.

Can't you add one as an applet? Did you try right clicking the icon to see if you get the option to add it to the desktop or ibar?

When you right click on the desktop is there an option to create a launcher? If so, you could just do that and associate it with the shutdown command.

nope, when you right click in gOS it brings up favorite program menu. when i try to right click on on shutdown in the main menu it does nothing.
is there a way to write a script in notepad or leafpad as its called in gOS and then save it and make it executable or something like that.

You could try dragging the shutdown item int he menu to the bar. If that doesn't work, create a script like this
Code:
#!/bin/sh

shutdown -h
I don't know if that works, just kind of logical to me. Anyway save it to desktop as shut-down.sh and make it executable by either right clicking, going to permissions and clicking the execute button or goto command line and do this
Code:
chmod u+x ~/shut-down.sh
