Looking for a decent video editing program
I currently use Kdenlive but it's so buggy now it's unbelievable. Transitions don't work half the time, transforms are completely ignored, or are inconsistent with preview etc. It's too bad because GUI wise it's really intuitive, it's just so buggy.
I tried Blender, but it's just too choppy, like everything you try to do it's like I'm VNCed into a computer on Mars.
Tried openshot, but the minute you try to click on something, the cursor just stays stuck in an arrow or hand, and you can't do anything after that.
I tried Resolve, but it won't load, I just get a black box that shows up and won't go away.
At this point I don't care if I have to use Windows. I just don't want to pay a subscription. Is there anything that is actually reliable out there I can use?
I'm running Linux Mint 20 and Windows 7 on my Windows machine.
Ideally I want something that runs on Linux since from a file access point of view it's just easier because all my files are accessed via NFS and if I use Windows I'll then have to resetup how I access my files and also start punching holes in the firewall as my Linux machine is on another Vlan. But open to Windows solutions too, I just want something that will work.

Are you sure the problems with all the apps you tired are not caused by some graphics hardware or config you have?
Hard to believe that all the ones you tired have issues.
Also, Windows does have a NFS client: https://superuser.com/questions/2543...-windows-7-pro

No idea, could be it does not like my hardware for whatever reason, but I'm not really in a financial position to upgrade at this point either. GPU is an ATI Radeon RX 570 if I recall. lspci: (07:00.0 VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] Ellesmere [Radeon RX 470/480/570/570X/580/580X/590] (rev e7))
CPU is AMD Ryzen 3 1300X quad core
I did find a PPA for Kdenlive so I was able to upgrade it to a newer version and it seems to have fixed some of the issues I was having. I redid my video and the transitions seem to work now... so maybe I will stick to this for now. I hear good things about Davinci Resolve but I also read it's a beast to actually get it to run and I can attest to that given it won't start for me.
Good to know Windows has an NFS client. But for now maybe I'll just stick to kdenlive though I'm still open to other suggestions to try as I feel kdenlive is just going to break again, it seems to be hit and miss. I guess it's hard to complain about something free though.
