running mandriva 2007, upgraded to beryl 0.2.0...slick. but shadow is gone from the kicker, and when trying to watch video on kmplayer 0.9.3 in fullscreen mode; the kicker stays in front.
No I use the transparent panel option. I should have cleared this up in my previous reply, are we talking about the button that you click to bring up the menu with your programs in or is it the bar that runs along the bottom (unless you've moved it) of the screen? If it's the bar, that's called the panel, the kicker is the name of the menu button.

running the panel at like 80% transparency, but had a shadow on it before, also the windows have a more subtle shadow than before, but i like that part- wondering if this, (the flatness of the panel) has anything to to with loss off complete full screen in kmplayer: it's the only thing i can discern.
There's nothing really different between your config and mine. There is the option of you right click your panel and choose Panel Menu-->Configure Panel you can set it to allow apps to cover the panel. I suspect that will apply this setting to all apps, give it a try and see what the results are.
okay... fullscreen on kmplayer!// i must have updated kde too? but firefox, konqueror, and other windows maximize past the panel. it's like the panel is pasted on the bottom of the desktop after the fact-- not slick... but i can live with resizing
