Question How to prevent saving dialog box from listing hidden files

How to prevent a dialog box from listing a bunch of hidden directories such as .bash, .evolution etc. while trying to save a file using firefox browser or evolution e-mail agent?

When I surf the web with firefox or read e-mails with evolution, sometimes I'd like to save a file either from a interesting website or from a friend's e-mail. But a dialog box appears asking where the file would save. The dialog box lists a lot of directories in my $HOME dir, including hidden directories such as .kde, .gnome etc., which definitely are not I intended to save to.

Could anybody help me how to prevent this saving dialog box from listing those hidden dirs whenever I tried to save a file?

Much appreciation in advance.

Sid

In the "Browse for other folders" section, right click and see if there is a "Show Hidden Files" option.
