How to configure dual monitor on Fedora 20 64-bit system

I have been trying for weeks to get my second monitor to work with no success, very frustrating.

I understand that the system looks in xorg.conf.d for modifications to the basic configuration. Look over the xorg.conf man pages and thought I understood what they contained. The file I put into xorg.conf.d is attached as is the xorg.0.log file. When I put the new file under xorg.conf.d the system fails to boot. It gets to the fedora logo then hangs.

I assume its because my new file is constructed incorrectly.

Oh, I have one video card that supports two monitors.

Also, I notice the one file that is under xorg.conf.d has a prefix of (00-keyboard.conf), don't know if the naming convention of the file in this directory matters, have not seen that issue addressed in other forums.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks!

From the logs it looks like you have several errors like
Quote:
(WW) "xwayland" is not to be loaded by default. Skipping.
(WW) Warning, couldn't open module nv
Not sure if those are important, but for me it looks like the driver is not supporting the card :
Quote:
(II) NOUVEAU driver

[ 20.500] RIVA TNT (NV04)

[ 20.501] GeForce 8 (G8x)
[ 20.501] GeForce GTX 200 (NVA0)
[ 20.501] GeForce GTX 400 (NVC0)
and the card looks to be
Quote:
Chipset: "NVIDIA NV94"
(whis is some 9600 ?)

Anyway to see if the card would work with your 2 screens I would suggest to use the nvidia driver as nouveau still does not reach a high performance.
For my card it's almost unusable and even the vesa driver does better ....

The card is a 9600 GT. I will download the Nvidia driver. See if that cleans things up a bit. Thanks.

Found a easy way to solve this problem.

RPM Fusion.org

Load their free and non-free repositories. From that, via Apper load the Nvidia proprietary driver. Reboot the system. Done.

Both Monitors work perfectly now.
