how do you change the ubuntu boot splash?

as ubuntu boots up, just after grub covering your CLI there is a black screen which says Ubuntu with an orange-brown bar loading up, is there any way of changing this to something different? i've seen some splash screens around but they seem to be grub splash...

In addition to what Jay posted, if you go to gnome-look.org, they have TONS of boot splash pictures with instructions on how to install them.
