Gnome, Compiz, Mouse Button 1 problems

Hi all,

All the buttons on my mouse seem to work fine accept button 1 with desktop effects (compiz). The button seems to work as some kind of event but not as button 1. I pasted a below report from XEV when I press button 1. The other buttons on my mouse report correctly, accept button 1. I can get button 1 to work only if I press another button with it like say shift and button 1, then xev reports button 1 was pressed.

Their is one other slight problem, but it is not a killer. Scroll down works correctly, but scoll up zooms without the accompanied hot keys... I am mainly concerned with button 1 as using firefox while having to hold shit or control can get to be a bit much.

Once I disable desktop effects (compiz) everything (mouse) works normally in gnome.

I am running opensuse 10.2. This problems exists on 10.2 fresh install + with all updates.

I used xmodmap and switched button 1 & 3, the problem just moved to button 3(which was now button 1).....

Any ideas? Can you tell what button 1 is acting like?
