I've seen some personalized xfce desktops (like xubuntu), where the cpu performance and weather report are on the desktop. Yes, on the desktop, and not on the panel. Something like that: http://atadcrazy.com/misc_files/clea...t_xubuntu.html
I would like to add those applets on my desktop, but have no idea how...can someone help me?

That is a program called conky: http://conky.sourceforge.net/docs.html
It's usually installable from your distribution's repositories. If you google around you'll see all sorts of crazy things you can do with it and some basic configuration files also (my .conkyrc is a bit dull so it's not worth posting).
Edit: beaten to it ;0.
