Compiz Standalone: Some applications above "above"?

Hi!

Recently, my notifications started to appear below some windows that cover their location, depending on the stacking of those windows. If I know a notification is present, I can lower the window and thus make it appear, but I usually miss 90% of them because I usually have either a maximized browser or a maximized editor running. (Not fullscreen, ordinarily maximized. And to be clear, even the smallest window can cover the notifications, not just maximized ones.)

I already set type=Notification to "above" with the "Window Rules" plugin; I know that this rule should work because it does for "no focus", but it just doesn't. There must be some reason why those windows stack above "above", but which one? I already tried to randomly disable and enable plugins, but so far, I haven't found a solution, and Google is no help either.

notifyd: xfce4-notifyd 0.2.4
compiz: compiz 0.8.4
system: debian unstable / experimental, up to date
graphics: nvidia 334.21 binary (only one that supports my card)

The error _may_ have something to do with Gtk libraries being updated as I'm currently playing around with Gtk+ in python, but I'm really not sure because it doesn't appear when the windows aren't stacked above "above".

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!
Regards,
V
