Command line for Logout (KMS?) panel/function?

Hi,

I am currently trying to modify an applet for the best linux dock (Cairo-dock) and in that existing applet I want it to call the KDE logout screen, the small window in which you have the basic choices such as Log Out, Shutdown and Restart. I think it's called KMS, but not sure.

What is that command line?

Sure I could call killall, shutdown, reboot and that stuff, but I need 3-4 choices and the applet has a little flaw, it only gives 2 choices. So I wanted to have the main choice calling the logout screen inside which I will find my usual logout-restart-shutdown.

tnx

I believe the program is some part of ksmserver -- KDE's session manager. How to call that particular dialog, I don't know. I would try opening it up, then switch to a console and see if you can figure out which program was added the ps aux output.

That's a good idea, I'll give it a try and see if I can find anything.

tnx!

Unfortunately it does not work. When you click outside the dialog, the dialog vanishes. I tried with a simple script

sleep 3
ps aux

unfortunately if I bring the dialog after sleep 3, the script freezes, then when I cancel or get out of dialog, the script continues, therefore when it does the ps aux you are already out of the dialog.

I'll see if I can modify the cairo applet differently, other than calling this dialog.

tnx

Don't click outside the dialog. Try hitting CTRL+ALT+F1 to get to a console. Then you can get back to the gui with CTRL+ALT+F7.

Hum, well inside the konsole there is no new process, no difference before and after clicking on the logout button, using ctrl-alt-f1.

So it's not an easy one, yes. Will try to work around this, then.

tnx

For such a long time i adapt to the Command Line Interface(CLI),that almost all the time i use command to operating my system except browse the website!
It's more effective to manage the system though the command .
Just choose what you like!

I found this. I'm not sure what pops up when you set it to prompt for confirmation. Maybe just the "Are you sure you want to shutdown/logoff/reboot?", not the "which do you want to do?" dialog...
