Can Wayland apps that don't scale themselves still get scaled by the compositor, while apps that do get ignored?

I'm just thinking in the future when Qt apps fractionally scale themselves on Wayland and GTK4 apps don't, what will that look like in a Qt centric envrionment like KDE? Will GTK4 apps just be small and not scaled? Can a compositor, such as KWin, scale up certain apps that don't scale themselves while ignoring the apps that do scale themselves? Just what will this look like?

This is an interesting question, but way beyond my pay grade to answer. You might need to consider casting your support net wider in order to get a meaningful answer on this...
