Been away from linux for a while Looking for a good Gaming Friendly distro

Thats customizable. Not afraid of the command line or vim as a configuration tool, but would like something that i dont have to fiddle with too much to spend some time gaming.
Thanks.

again, a pointless question. Actually [almost] every distro should work [the same way]. If you want to use steam probably better to choose ubuntu (see documentation). It mainly depends on the hardware, not on the distro. And on the game you want to play.

I agree with pan64 regarding Ubuntu (or Linux Mint) for Steam.

Then that will, as mentioned lead you to Linux Mint or Ubuntu, since those have long support cycles. It if works then it will stay unchanged for a long time. Linux Mint has a somewhat shorter support cycle than Ubuntu which has at least 5 years for each of its LTS releases.

The tradeoff is that things will stay more or less the way they are for the duration of that cycle. So, another approach would be to chase the latest hardware support through Manjaro or Arch.

Trasa,

Don't forget to also look at EndeavourOS which is also based on Arch Linux, but much simpler to install:

Just like LQ, EndeavourOS has a very friendly and hepful forum:

I would go with mainline Debian or Fedora, with KDE desktop.
As a gaming noob, I found the smaller distros less easy to get help with or find manuals for. More things are broken downstream.
That said, gaming on Linux is super easy now and most bigger distros will work well.
Even wine is great, and check out Lutris to install and manage wine/steam/gog/retro games.
