I'm afraid to ask what I'm doing wrong. I tried to do it this way:

mpdwidget:add_signal("mouse::enter", function () weed.send_info{ text=""..text.."" } end)
And it works, so I assume it doesn't recognize "mpdwidget" as "mpd'mpdwidget'" as it should.
