application/x-mswinurl

Hi folks,

I am having a problem where my Fedora 7 install will not open a .url file. The default application for opening the file is Firefox, however, the icon is clearly a text file icon. When I double click on the file I get this error:

The filename "site.url" indicates that this file is of type "resource location". The contents of the file indicate that the file is of type "application/x-mswinurl". If you open this file, the file might present a security risk to your system.

Do not open the file unless you created the file yourself, or received the file from a trusted source. To open the file, rename the file to the correct extension for "application/x-mswinurl", then open the file normally. Alternatively, use the Open With menu to choose a specific application for the file.

First, the mimetype supplied by the server is application/internet-shortcut not "application/x-mswinurl" so I do not know where that is coming from. Also, where does one define file types and default applications in F7? What extension is F7 expecting for the "application/x-mswinurl" mime type?

Thanks!

The contents of the file vanished into oblivion in September 2007, which is when I moved to Ubuntu (the jury is still out - I got my eye on F10). Thanks for responding, though.
