Any newer 3d capable GUI's have the feel of Fluxbox?

Heya guys, Ive been using Fluxbox for a long time, partly because the Comp i ran linux on was older, and also because I Really liked the clean look if it. (Really seemed unique as apposed to a windows clone with a renamed start button on the task bar)

Well now I am runni9ng it on a much more powerful computer and graphics card, and am starting to wonder if there is any newer GUI's that sort of have the feel of Fluxbox but are more up to date, since I really don't need it for its low resources anymore. KDE/Gnome/XFCE/IceWM, they just don't cut it there and in my opinion, Fluxbox with a good skin and with transparency enabled still looks better.

Really wish there was a Fluxbox version that had higher resource usabe but better Transparency (able to see other windows behind it) and other features like that, but since the main reason for that window manager is low resource consumption that wont happen most likely.

[EDIT]

Hmm wonder if there is a newer version going by a different name, its not available in my Debian Sid repositories, and when looking for a manual download it seems the project kind of died in 2005.

Know what you mean about the 'copy of windows' look and feel, but remember that this is the default and you can make many of the 'heavier' guis look really quite different by reconfiguring them.

You might also want to have a look at enlightenment, although you are probably going to stick with your new, flashier, version of fluxbox.

Im still lookin for a newer one. Im gonna probably test the xcompmgr program, but unsure if Ill continue using it as it seems discontinued, and since there were supposedly still things to iron out, ehh., Debian even stopped keeping it in the current repos.

Compiz-Fusion will give you the wow-factor - so you'll want to find a fluxbox-style desktop to run it on. Have you had a go customizing XFce?

Enlightenment DR16 is remarkably like fluxbox - though I see it also uses pseudo transparency. DR17 uses true alpha for icons but not windows nor decorations. Both are 2D accelerated only.

Give the elive distro a try, that uses enlightenment and looks really good! Plenty of customization and eye-candy.
