amarok stops working--- "Error Loading Media, There is no audio channel!"

Hi all,

I had Amarok 1.4.4 using KDE 3.5.3 working great, but it seems to have stopped Not sure what happened. If I try playing something, I get a popup that says,
Quote:
Error Loading Media

There is no audio channel!
Also, xmms does NOT seem to be working, but VLC and Kaffeine DO work .

Thanks

Have you tried switching engines?

The only engine I have installed is xine (other engines that you suggest?). I set xine to use Alsa output plugin.

Problem seems to be linked to trying to play .flac files!

Does anybody know how to get the xmms system working with flac?

There is a bug in xines 1.1.1 that doesn't allow you to play .flac files. You can either downgrade to Amarok 1.3.9 or apply the patch, I'm not sure where but google it and you should find it.
