2 questions about Libre Office?

I don't know if this is the right place, but I've 2 questions concerning Libre Office (7.3).

1 I'm designing a document. How do I change the background color of this document?

2 If I move my cursor over this document I get many signs in white (enter (?)) How do I turn this off?

Normally, a document made in Libre Office Writer are meant to be printed on a paper. Therefore : What is the intention of you want another background color? Do you plan to export or print this document?
