Launch it from a terminal, it should give you an idea of what is happening.
I typed 'sudo rainlendar', and the calendar came up, when I closed the terminal it too disapeared. Can't understand how to launch it by double clicking on the rainlendar icon. It appears to be on the desktop but is invisable.

What happends when you don't use 'sudo'
just type 'rainlendar' while logged in as your normal user?

Nothing happens when I just type, 'rainlendar2' in the terminal. When I type in 'sudo rainlendar2', then it appears, but goes away when the terminal is closed.
ok. To background a process,.. just add an ampersand:
sudo rainlender2 &
When you exit the terminal that process will remain running
When I do that and exit the terminal, I don't see rainlendar2 on my desktop, it is gone. Then I attempt to launch it and a pop up window says it is already running. What is causing it to become invisable?
I downloaded the windows version and installed it with wine program loader, that works ok, but I uninstalled it because the calendar remained on top of all opened windows and I couldn't get it to only remain on my desktop. Why the Linux version doesn't appear on my desktop, unless I use sudo, I can't explain.
Can you make a quick video demonstration to share temporarily? or a screenshot tour of the steps and results? I have rainlendar2 and it is not exhibiting this behavior.
