RHCE book question->

Hey guys,

I was looking at getting this book, however it is outdated and wanted to know if it is still good to use.

http://www.amazon.com/RHCE-Certified...e=UTF8&s=books

I know now we have RHEL 4 and this book is geared towards 3 - are their a lot of differences or is it ok to use this book for studying?

Thanks!

yep, it's fine. there are few changes really, and you won't be tested on them either. most relevant change from that perspective is that the system toosl changed names from redhat-config-whatever to system-config-whatever...

Acid -

I just noticed their is a new edition coming out in April that focuses on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 and Fedora Core 5.

Is it still OK to use the older version and be fine w/ passing the exam?

I know you hit on that it was fine for RHLE 4 - how about w/ version 5 etc..

thanks!

well seeing as RHEL5 doesn't exist yet, you can hardly study up on it.

rhce really doens't work that way, it requires you to get the job done. not know intricate details about a certain system exclusive to a certain version. in the lab exam you have to fullfil a brief, as long as the system is secure, or the server is listening as requested, that's it.

Makes more sense now Acid - so basically if I can get the job done that is all that matters.

Thanks again for your help!

Post Books ?

I guess study books doesn't come handy to clear the exam. People might have different opinions but just telling the same from pure experience.
