Originally posted by RossB The O'Reilly book is quite old and laid out for the previous version of the exams. It's missing the new objectives, some of which are signifiicant portions of the exams.
I am happy to say that my new book on the topic, the LPIC Level 1 Exam Cram 2 from Que is going to be in the stores the 20th of Sept. I am already using it in classes and it's getting very good reviews from the attendees.
Ross
'll u publish a html or pdf copy from it...?..
i'm in Egypt ...and u r right about incomplete specially about security issue ..
Hi RossB, I noticed on Amazon that your book was due out on September 10th. Its now September 22nd and it still is not in stock. I was wondering if you could give me any information on the status of release, Thanks.
I was just at Borders today looking for it and didn't see it either. I'm looking forward to reading your book, Ross. Thanks for your time in writing this book to help us guru wannabes out.
is this book good for people starting out if you have little experience is
it worh taking classes ,would i pass the exam or is this book for people who allready know what they are doing and just want a certificate
I appeared for the LPI 101 RPM exam. Unfortunately, I couldn’t pass that exam. I searched all the documents and links on the net and what I had found I had posted on my first post. but, still not satisfied with that martial expect one or two. I am re planning to set again for both exams (101,102) and plan to use IBM study tutorials. Does IBM cover every thing? I have seen your books table’s contents on amazon.com. I am thinking to buy this book also. http://www.examcram2.com/title/0789731274#
Here, I am confused about study martial. As I have found some links and documents some cover some of the points (like installation, etc) and some does not cover with full details. And I don't want to take chance again. As I planning to buy your book. Is it available in INDIA? If not then, can I read online? Can download .PDF file and HTML document? Bec’z now I am looking for perfect martial to pass these exams.
Also, can u tell us What’s on the CD-ROM? I have seen there are some Exam Prep Questions at the end of the each chapter. what is that exactly? is it only 1 question with thw multiple answer or it's cover some technical senario?
Please help me to clear all doubts. looking forword to your answer.
hitesh_linux: I purchased the book yesterday, and on the cdrom it comes with a full .PDF version of the book. I'm pretty impressed with the book so far, although I have only read up to midway through the second chapter. So far it is very easy to read if you have a linux background as I do.
Yes, I do have linux background and thanx for the kindly answer. actually i was waiting for Mr. Ross answer. Also, I was wondering whether it's cover all exams related point or not. it's glad to know it's cover almost everything.
can u do one favor on me? can u provide me the full .PDF verison of that book. if you can let me know, i'll give my email address. so i can read it and make it much sure about it. waiting for your reply.
I appreciate your standing firm about international copyright laws.
Hitesh, the book is available in almost every store and website that deals with books, it's even discounted for overseas, why take a chance on being seen as a pirate, just get a copy of it for yourself. Someone else (ziox) also asked for a .pdf of the book, that would be theft, you get the .pdf as a companion to the book, not as a replacement for the book.
The book is available in the entire Que/Pearson distribution channel, including India and Egypt, my publisher tells me. You should have access to it, if not, let me know and we'll see what we can do.
