I can't seem to locate any info on changing the grafpup package manager to go to a different url. When I select a package in the left pane to install. I chose the package glibc_locales-2.3.4. The program loads a box that says
You have chosen to install these packages in Grafpup:
"glibc_locales-2.3.4"
Please connect to the Internet then press a button to choose download site.
grafpup.com is the main repository and is usually fast and reliable.
texasangel.biz is a slower backup mirror, which isn't updated as religeously.
If you click on "Local" button, the packages must already be downloaded,
that is, somewhere local.
The choices on the bottom buttons are grafpup.com, texasangel.biz or Local. When I select grafpup.com I get this error message
ERROR: grafpup.com IS UNREACHABLE!
...are you connected to the Internet?
...maybe that site is down? Try another.

I don't think this site exist anymore and would like to be able to tell this program to go to another url. How do I do this using Grafpup Deluxe? any help is gladly appreciated.
Thanks
Eric
Yes, you are using the very old Grafpup 104 (I am too incidentally).
You need to hack the script.
Open /usr/sbin/pupget in a text editor, find the lines that resemble these (they're not all together), and replace them with these:
WWWSITE="grafpup.org"
WWWSITE="bubbleletter.org"
PKGSRC="http://www.grafpup.org/packages/1.xx"
PKGSRC="http://bubbleletter.org/downloads/grafpup/unleashed_packages"
It's been awhile since I've been on this site. Thank you very much for your help. It seems to have done the job just fine with no problems. Looks like it's time to upgrade to a more current version. I use grafpup Deluxe, dynebolic, and Dingo Puppy on my system. I like them a lot but the Dingo is a bit unstable with firefox. I'll try removing it some day and install a different version. Maybe that will help. firefox just goes bye bye for no aparent good reason, it might be flash related. I installed the javaruntime that openoffice complained about on the grafpup system of mine but open office tries to load, blue bar goes across about one third of the way and then it just goes bye bye too. All in all though these puppy system are good overall, I'm happy with them.
Rather than updating Grafpup you might be better off doing what I will do - just installing what you need in Puppy, so you can keep it up to date. eg. Plinej just packaged the latest Gimp 2.6.1, which looks like another big improvement, but you'd have to upgrade the GTK to run it in Grafpup.
But don't let anyone put you off using the old version. If it still does what you want, that's great
I just installed OOo 3 in it for the new support of MS Office 2007 documents
What version of FF are you using in Dingo? 3.x? The stability problems there generally seem to be specific to certain versions of Flash and FF, and FF 3 seems to be the worst.
That's weird - normally installing Java works fine. But openoffice doesn't actually need Java except for Base, the media player, and mail merge. I've never used any of those
With grafpup is it just a matter of installing the new GTK to update the older version or do I have to do something special to keep the system from breaking? yea I dont know why the openoffice is complaining about java, I think I will just re-install it. I actually like grafpup better than puppy dingo. Maybe I am just used to it now.
Sorry - I really don't know, and I'm not keen on trying anymore. I have seen GTK upgrade packages for Puppy before, so I guess it must be relatively feasible.
BTW you might not know, but you can rename .pet packages from Puppy to .tar.gz, and Grafpup 104's installer can install them (and uninstall them later if need be). Some won't be work because it is so old, but an awful lot do.
It might be reasonably serious though, because I remember Nathan said something about not adding Gimp 2.4.x to Grafpup 2.01 because it required a GTK upgrade.
I'll probably wait on that Gimp GTK thing, all though it's not a real big deal to reinstall these puppy sysytems if things go wrong. Thanks for the tip I just installed my hpijs driver using a pet with your renaming tip. Everything seemed to go smooth with it but I don't have cups on the system and the regular wizard printing setup did not show the new drivers. However when I tried to print a text file it did show the correct printer there after that install, but it did not print the document. I'll have to probably install cups, which I prefer anyhow. I just need to find it with google or one of the forum sites. Thanks for all of your help, very much apreciated
I used this CUPS http://dotpups.de/dotpups/Printing/c...stall-v0.3.pup - but that is just because it is what was available at the time. If I needed it now I'd tried the petget Cups - from Puppy 2.17 or maybe 4.x - as it will be smaller and I suspect would still work. If you want to find one of them go to the Puppy download page and follow the link to ibiblio.
