ifconfig shows different broadcast address, yet I can still connect

Installing gentoo after installing windows and following these directions.
http://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/UEFI_Dua...th_Windows_7/8
The only problem I found is that the last digit of the broadcast address is "1", where it should be "2" hypothetically. Even though it is different, I can still ping sites and can run elinks from the cd. I'm unsure of how to proceed and any help is appreciated.

Broadcast addresses are usually end in 255, not 1 or 2. For the address
123.123.123.123, the netmask is (usually) 123.123.123.0 and the broadcast 123.123.123.255

They are only relevant for a broadcast, which is something sent to all machines on a network. They are not a vital statistic that will stop you working.
