does anybody know any phones which have software available that can export the contacts list to a text file, and re-import again? And the same question for sms (maybe export only).

Software that runs on Windows is ok, Linux is better, and best of all would be software that runs on the phone and puts the text file on the filesystem of the phone's memory card.

I have searched a bit and found zyb, which looks like a good service for syncing phones from different manufacturers, which is 90% of what I want anyway. But you never know when you might want to grep your sms logs, which you can't do with zyb...

You can look at the gnokii project. It was originally designed to work with Nokias, but I believe it supports several other phones as well. Check it out at
