unelss you are on a dial-up, or do not have access to a CDRW then you can buy them, but otherwise you can just download and burn your own CD. they are free to download, and you will not get in trouble for distributing them either.

Since most distro's are on 3 CDs, and i have multiple distros already installed (so i don't mind waiting) I most often purchase.
cheapbytes current cost is $12 with US shipping, cheapiso $9.

Amazing how many people always forget about your local low-tech alternative to a high-tech solution.

Many libraries carry books about Linux, and some books include a distribution with them. Granted, since you picking it up from a library, you'd be getting an old distro, but that's not necessarily bad to cut your teeth on, unless you have new bleeding-edge technology. Remember that RH9 is a few years old now.

I almost picked up a RH9 book, complete with discs, for $20 a couple of weekends ago, is that a good deal? I already have downloaded the ISOs (I've even installed it under less than ideal conditions) I guess I was just wondering what other people think about the linux book + linux CD combos, and what their "sweet spot" is on the purchasing decision.

I, myself, have always kind of had a dream of getting one of these, tracking down Linus or RMS or some other Linux big-shot, and having them autograph either the book or the cd (with a sharpie, of course.) I guess that makes me sort of weird.
