Today in Ransomeware

The Pennsylvania, USA, Democratic Party has been pwned.

According to the news story, they are not paying the ransom and they do have backups.

They deserve it in my opinion anyways, and I am kinda sad that they even have backups.

I wouldn't have anything against the dems, if they stood for something and weren't such corporate whores.

If you wish to pursue this discussion, see my profile to know where to find my political self.

I am done with this thread, because I choose not to drag LQ into a political morass.

Nightly backup is all very well, but what counts is the number of parallel generations they keep. If they always back up to the same device (or only two devices), there's a high chance that the backups will be corrupted too.

I remember when I was at work, our computer unit had a three-backup system. Two disks were used for alternate nightly backups, and a third was used once a week as a long-stop.

And this story has nothing to do with politics. It could just as easily have happened to the Republican party, so stop gloating, Jeebizz.
