Too much "staring at statistics," and too much "having made a lot of money over the years doing that."

Meh, I like my sociopath tendencies, lets me get what needs to be done.. done.

but I'm with sundialsvcs on this.

Just some clever guy ( sociopath ) extracting money out of the fools that read ( and believed ) his drivel.

There is some truth in that text, but crafted to scare the witless.

They are not indistinguishable if you know what to look for.

it is subjective

Just because you think someone is a Sociopath doesn't mean they are.
And the same logic holds true in the other direction, thinking someone isn't does not mean they are not.

Like it or not, sociopaths hold society together.. they are the ones who can make the 'hard decisions' without being encumbered by emotional bias.

I think a normal person can set their emotions aside when they have to and make the right decision. A sociopath (not a proper psychiatric term BTW) tends not to be capable of emotion, remorse, or normal functioning within society for an extended period of time ... e.g. they will end up in prison at some point.

If you observe and analyze a person's behavior and their possible motives you can spot them. There will be false positives and false negatives of course, but it's better than nothing. Having a more cynical and distant approach to others helps you avoid the consequences of dealing with sociopaths. You know, trusting others more than is warranted. I mean many people live in some kind of delusional happy place, where everything is great and everyone is your best friend, and if you watch police investigation shows and look at the statistics (there was a recent study on it), such people are much more likely to die violent deaths at the hands of sociopaths because of their unrealistic views of the world.

From this I guess you can draw the conclusion that I am on the cynical/paranoid end of the spectrum. I tend not to trust others unless I strongly believe they mean me no harm, and I am extremely suspicious of overly friendly people because there can be no good motive behind this friendliness.

I don't see any reason for concern. If you are not already treating everybody as if they are out for themselves only then you've not been alive long.
I think this reads as a "fun" way to get people to be more cautious.
I have, in the past, been declared a sociopath/psychopath in a few of these online joke tests, giving real answers, so I know how little they reflect the truth.

It is just a scale, everyone *is* 'one' to some degree

And that shifts depending on 'mood' and current environment.

The op link is just someone taking advantage of people at the lower end of the ... spectrum
Don't know how to describe them

Intellect is too loaded ( 'intelligence' is complicated)

I guess what I'm looking for is close to "gullible" (so higher end)

Anyways, we need 'sociopaths' (or whatever label)
forget good/evil .. that is just a control mechanism created by a malicious 'sociopath'
something the sociopath author of the linked content is taking advantage of

I think that there are such people, although I don't think that they are the way they are because of their brain. The human species itself is the best predator on the face of the earth. Humans kill things without even trying. And when we try, the results are both grand and devastating. Thus I would argue that all of us have the "predator" hidden inside of us. It just comes out more in some people.

(Remember: they walk amongst us! That means they are on this forumn!)

Yeah, like those pesky autistics. Don't get me started on those horrible schizophrenics! Those rude people with Tourettes too, swearing in public, they should be locked up!
Don't get me wrong, I've no general sympathy for criminals but calling somebody scum for a mental deficiency seems a little odd to me.
