Greetings, LQ. I am curious about getting started with LaTeX and I use both Linux and Windows platforms. I prefer cross-platform software so I can use the same programs, and I also prefer the Windows programs to be portable so I can run them from a usb drive both at home and at work. I would like to try both Texworks and GNU TeXmacs until I decide which I prefer.
So far I have installed Texlive which includes Texworks, and also TeXmacs 1.99.8. Texlive/Texworks works portable, and TeXmacs in Windows works but is storing user settings and files under AppData\Roaming. I've spent the past week Googling about environment variable for TeXmacs. I know about TEXMACS_HOME_PATH which works in Linux but in Windows no matter what I set it to it continues to use AppData\Roaming. I have also tried TEXMACS_HOME and HOME, using forward slashes instead of backslashes, and typing full paths but nothing seems to work.
Does anybody know the correct setting, if there is one? My .bat file looks like this
Code:
set TEXMACS_PATH=%~dp0
set TEXMACS_HOME_PATH=%TEXMACS_PATH%
set TEX_HOME=%TEXMACS_PATH%..\..\texlive\texmf-dist
set TEX_TFM_PATH=%TEX_HOME%fonts\tfm
set TEX_PK_PATH=%TEX_HOME%fonts\pk
bin\texmacs.exe %*
