It's summer, the CPU temperature is at 60C, the mother board is at 50C as well. The upper part of the PC is quite hot. Probably in 60C. I don't like this PC because it's hot and sis video is buggy. The conclusion is that I should get a nVidia 5200 or 6200.
The problem is that I am not sure if the 220W PSU can bring enough power, will the Pc melt after the installation of a video card?
I have this PC
- antec minuet mATX case 220W
- Sempron 2200+
- Sis 741 mother board (with internal video, sound, ethernet card)
- 120MB Maxtor HDD
- DVD writer
P.D.: the latest winischhofer driver helped a lot. However, it isn't good enough yet
Get a new power supply. Something from 350W range isn't that expensive. And your CPU is running hot, you might consider using a better fan, like Thermal Take.
Motherboards very hot aswell - that CPU should be running cool enough with the stock heatsink+fan unless you have it way overclocked.
Make sure you have an adequate air flow through the case, an intake 80mm case fan at the front and an exhaust 80mm fan at the back and make sure all the cables are neat inside especially if you use the fat ribbon cables.
You might be better off getting a normal ATX case so you can get a good airflow through it
* It has mininum air flow, the upper air exit saved the PC but I should install an extra casefan which is 8cm
* I cannot get any power saving ability for sempron yet
* I may try to install the video card but if anything is wrong I should buy a new ATX case and uninstall the video card
By the way, anyone know what is the energy consume of this kind of PC?
