So: another attempt by a government to create back doors into encryption
This one is American and came out yesterday. I stumbled on it while following a link in another post.
The speaker is the US Attorney General and his attitude is basically, "If you keep telling us it can't be done, we'll pass a law making you do it anyway." I suppose under Trump, anything is possible.
When Theresa May was home secretary, she talked the same kind of piffle, but fortunately nothing came of it. I wasn't particularly surprised though when she went on to become the most incompetent prime minister in British history.
If they really did pass such a law in America, I wonder how many days it would take before the Mafia got hold of the keys and emptied everyone's bank accounts. And how many weeks before the rest of the world threw an impenetrable firewall around the US to prevent the rest of the Internet being affected.
Jon Callas, cofounder of the PGP encryption software and the Silent Circle secure messaging and phone systems, has done an excellent in-depth analysis of why such a system is impossible to set up at scale in such a way that only law enforcement could use it. It’s a basic problem with backdoors of this kind – they are easy to set up, and impossible to control so that only officers and g-men can use them.
I am all for law enforcement, but I am concerning that once the keys to encryption, back-door, are handed over to the government, it will fall into the hand of hackers, malicious individuals in the government, convert government spying, covert Chinese, Russian, Microsoft, big business, etc...,and a total loss of our "right to privacy" as dictated by the Constitution of the United States.
if we stop making laws to over control the "people" then law enforcement would not be such an issue. Law Enforcement is only needed due people disagreeing with the laws that were made up due to someone thinking they know better or for reasons of there own make laws to control others or give them the law makers permissions to infringe on others rights.

Well... in light of recent events, that record could very well be smashed...
If you go back to Margaret Thatcher in the 1980s, you have a long history of resignations and incompetence from Tory leaders / Tory Prime Ministers - and the squeezing of the less fortunate (e.g. poll tax, to name just one) for the betterment of the few. Ordinary working class people vote for this party of the elites, aristocrats and old Etonians because they know no better and that has always been the case. They have always utilised their allies in the media (the Zinoviev letter incident in the 1920s being one early example) to spread lies, sow fear and doubt over any credible opposition and used "divide and conquer" to get elected time and again. If just the tiny minority of the UK's demographic, that this party really represents voted for it, it would quite simply disappear into irrelevance. But unfortunately the population still readily believe bullshit and continue to vote these clowns in.
This might be especially disturbing given the latest hack in Russia on July 13. Not only is the hack disturbing, that it was possible and how much data was at risk, but also the nature of some of the leaked data regarding Russia's projects to de-anonymize Tor and be able to target individuals. That would be disturbing all on it's own but far more invasive totalitarian regimes are apparently already seeking to kill anonymity and punish dissidents.
Without Free Speech, there is no other Freedom. So, how are you Trump supporters feeling these days about your Boy? Still think he's got The Common Man's interest at heart?
I wouldn't be surprised if many of the world's counter-intelligence organisations have projects to try and de-anonymise Tor. It's an obvious target, which is ironic when you consider that it was invented by the CIA to allow their operatives to phone home safely. The Russians just got caught doing what everyone else is doing too. Similarly with having contingency pans to survive being isolated from the world Internet. I don't see why that makes them uniquely sinister.
So, how are you Trump supporters feeling these days about your Boy?
He ain't my boy...I laugh when I see him...but
It's the far political left that has being trying to extinguish free speech for years now. Even to the point that if you refuse to go along with their mental disorders, such as a boy can be a girl and a girl can be a boy depending on how they feel.
If you suggest that there are 2 biological genders, they will try to get you fired, destroy your life, assault you, imprison you...etc.
They have even tried to get licensed medical doctors in trouble for telling them about basic science, that every cell in your body has a Y chromosome in it, you have male genitalia, you are a male. Now you may have a dress on, but you are still male. They have demanded that they be silenced, and punished.
It isn't stupid sounding orange hair that is the threat to free speech and liberty. In fact, I would say that the far left is a bigger treat to freedom/free speech in the US than Putin is. Trump can be voted out next election if the electorate desires.

Erm...so what do you call someone who has fully transitioned, who doesn't have male genitalia any more but has female genitalia and full-grown breasts? That person still has a Y chromosome in each cell of their body, but it no longer makes much sense to say, "This is a male."
As a matter of fact, there are born women who have a Y chromosome in every cell of their bodies. They have a genetic condition in which male hormones don't affect them because their cells lack the receptor for them. Consequently, although their gonads produce those hormones, they develop as normal females, only without a uterus. They also have female brains, for the same reason. They only discover the truth about themselves when they reach puberty and find that they don't menstruate. Should they be told that they are actually male because of that Y chromosome and made to live as males? That makes no sense at all. Science is always a more complicated thing than populists would like to believe.
Anyway, if you believe in free speech, you should also believe in freedom to do what one wants with one's own body. It's illogical not to.
Criminals will keep using secure encryption as always, the regular law abiding citizens will only get hurt.
Basically same thing as gun regulations, no regulation will stop criminals from obtaining weapons.
And the cat is out of the bag, you can't backdoor existing encryption and we have pretty strong encryption. Even if existing encryption gets back doored somehow just don't use it, use the last good version
Erm...so what do you call someone who has fully transitioned, who doesn't have male genitalia any more but has female genitalia and full-grown breasts?
Someone who had surgery, had their parts removed, turned inside out, and reinstalled.(I read how that's done) Then they get estrogen hormone shots/pills so that their body will respond to it and grow fat tissue, like a female does. They will never look female. They look like men with wigs on. And you are going to say that's just your own bigoted opinion. Yup. One of those free speeches that the far left wants to ban.

They sure do, and that's male. Right down at the genetic level.
There have always been people who have been born with abnormalities as compared with the majority of a population. Leave them alone and let them be. I'm not suggesting that anyone should be treated badly. That is a medical issue with them and their doctor. In fact, a lot of people who are being told to change gender are simply homosexual and lesbian. Another one of those things that the left is going to shove down your throat whether you like it or not. You shall not descent. All the while claiming to be inclusive. That is inclusive of things that they like, not what you like.
Picking your gender like you pick your favorite flavor of ice cream is an alternate reality. And teaching children in primary school that they can do that is child abuse. Then suppressing/outlawing free speech when someone points that out, that a political group does not like, is tyranny for everyone else but for the group that has the power at the moment, and hypocrisy.

Really, how about if I like raping. As long as I do it within the privacy of my own home that is. That was after all the basis for Roe V Wade. The right to privacy.
And before you say, you are hurting someone else when you rape....uhhh what is murdering a baby and throwing in the garbage doing?
Another one of those things that the supreme court gave us. Equating actions with speech.
You see, we-they just don't agree. I didn't change your mind and you did not change mine. Suppressing one side does not fix anything though. It just makes for rebellions like orange hair getting elected.
But I do appreciate you posting info like that. It forces a person to think, and adds to the discussion.
