I recently moved my server to another building here on my land. It's a workshop, storage, catch all type of place. Half of it is my grandparent's apartment. This has a dedicated 15 amp circuit, gigabit line to it, AP up top also serving as my switch for the location. How do you like that plywood? Probably at least 10 years old and used just as many times This building is connected to the rest of my lan with a pair of https://store.ui.com/collections/ope...ebeam-5ac-gen2 . Works great although I'm not getting the speed I expected. According to the webui I've got a fair amount of inteference on one end. Maxing at 125mbps right now. 720p and lower media for kodi and a mythtv backend, those are the biggest things I've got to worry about and it's doing just fine with that 125 mbps.
Thinking about mounting a screen on the wall for the hell of it.
Figured I'd post hoping to see what other redneck stuff people got going on out there?

ive got a 27" 1920x1080 asus monitor package taped on to a intel barebones "mini" computer which is taped to a small piece of plywood, all that bcus my cat likes to climb on my monitors. lol
that plywood barebones monitor setup is on my computer desk.
How you gonna be a redneck staying in a closet? Son, I say Son, you gotta get out in the Sun, Boy!
Seriously, pretty cool but you might need a squadron of cats to keep away any rodents. I have found dead mice who apparently thought my PC was a warm place to take a pee Thankfully the short circuit was temporary.

It's about 4, 5 feet of the ground. The building is living capable. Sealed, climate controlled and such. Wouldn't be hard to put up a few walls and make a room for someone as it sits. Is why I'm not too worried about it. At one point this building was a meeting place for architectural work and drafting. It's a modular office building basically.
I did a bit of massaging with my bridges. Got them up around 650, 700 mbit now. I had plenty of headroom before but this gets me closer to advertised capability. PtP mode + bumping the width to 80 from 40 mhz did the trick.

One managed switch
Three ethernet power injectors (IP cameras and Ubiquiti AP)
Two headless servers, one is serving as a web server and router for LAN, the other is media server with two aerials connected and lots of storage space
Three UPS units
One cable modem
One Z-Wave controller (USB)
One FM transmitter (temporary installation, has been like this for 5 years)
One power injector and one PS for TV antennas
Heh. My modem and router sit on top of a cardboard box in corner of my closet, because that's where the cable is. One of these days, I shall build a proper shelf . . . .
