repairing a corrupt avi file

hello guy's
I have this avi file that's corrupted. It's about 700 mb big. Does any body know how I can repair this file? Doesn't neceserally have to be a linux solution. A winblows program will do.
The thing with the file is that 99% of the file is there. But the 1% that's crucial, the index of the file is either bad on absent.
Any thoughts?

tried mplayer? switches like -forceidx and such will rebuild indexes just fine normally. or just try using mencoder to copy both audio and video streams directly. failing that the transcode tools should be able to sort it out

Thanks. The thing is, I'm using lfs tright now, and I don't have that much installed yet. I tried transcode a bit, but I had put most my efford on finding a windows solution.
I'l trie mplayer and then transcode. It really should work out.
B.t.w: mplayer can do that? wow, it's supirior than any thing in windows.
