Honestly, I suspect this is NSA propaganda in order to try to justify what they are doing.

Spying, the fact any "civilized" country has done so for the past few decades and for obvious strategic economical reasons, interconnected networks and the lack of proper security thereof all are not new, are they?

Spying is not new, but I think what they are doing is 'manufacturing consent'.

But I suppose that is not new either !

Spying isn't new. But spying in random citizens is not acceptable.

Should I take the NSA's word for it ? or for anything at all ?

I'm pretty sure they are at least exaggerating.

it also is a mix of some REALLY "bone-head" moves on the upper management of defense contractors

like
buying servers from china owned companies ( with built in back doors)
and using those servers to run data from "Skunk Works" through

that is how China got ALL!!! the designs and test data for the F22 jet

A very good point there ...

I don't know what you do country to country, but with an individual you prosecute them for breaking into private, protected records don't you? Shouldn't there be cases against some of these 100,000 persons attempting to hack networks, or at least indictments?
