You don't unpack an iso file. It's a disc image and the burner app will handle burning it as a complete disc.

Got the LiveCD made...but more issues

Thanks again for all the help and guidance. I was able to burn the LiveCD, backed up all my files, defragged my 'puter, Checked the LiveCD...it had a bunch of little icons on it for the programs, said try Kubuntu without installing (looked like it was supposed to) BUT... when I put it in my 'puter and rebooted, it only offered the option to Start or Load...and it began loading on my 'puter automatically????

So here is my questions I have a brand new never outta da box Maxtor One Touch II 100 GB External Hard Drive....could I install this on my 'puter and load Kubuntu on that and run it from there? Since it appears if I continue to use the LiveCD on my 'puter it will continue to install. If this is a good option should I configure it to NTFS when I load it?

Thanks again for all the help!

You just need to find where you saved the .iso file to and select it for burning.

When the process is completed if you look at the disk in your filemanager (explorer) you should see files and folders on the disk, if you see a single file called 'xxxxx.iso' you have burned incorrectly.

It's not acutally installing anything (i know the menu says start or load) it will load and run from the cd/dvd. What you will see on the desktop is an icon to double click if you want to install Kubuntu to your hard drive. It's safe to just boot from the cd/dvd and let Kubuntu load up. As for installing Kubuntu onto an external drive I would guess that if it's detected and mounted then yes, but as I've never done this please research and check before attempting to do so.
