NCIX (PC builder and parts retailer)'s servers sold at auction with data still on them

This news is local to me, but it's really international (or at least national) in scope. We had a PC retailer called NCIX that also sold over the mail. They went out of business. Their servers were then sold with data still on them. All the data.

Canadian retailer's servers storing 15 years of user data sold on Craigslist

If you're only planning to read one link, start with the first one. It's the (or at least a main) source for the others.

Heard about this last night. NCIX was my go-to computer parts business for a decade or so. I knew about their bankruptcy, but the data selling was an eye-opener. Cancelled the only cc account I used with them last night.
