My Conputer takes long to load/Bad sectors in HDD ..what to do ?
Hello All,
I am using Windows XP from a long time and have been lately facing some problems.
1. The "My Computer" is taking so so so long to load. Even after it loads, it takes too long to go from one page to another page (read C:\ to D:\ and within).
2. Also, when the computers boots, every time it runs a scan-disk and removes some bad sectors. I tried manually to locate bad sectors by using some s/w like FloboHDD Bad Sector Removal, but that did not help.
3. I had 6 Disk drives* (C,D,E,F,G,H) but I can only see 4/6. (G) and (H) are not accessible. This makes me think more than the disk is having bad sectors.
In short yes, your HD is going bad. At this point, all you can/should do, is try to backup important data, or at least as much as you can, and replace the HD itself.

I would agree with Jeebizz here. I would urge you to get the data off of the drive FAST. I experienced what you're describing twice before with two different hard disks. Shortly after this began happening, the hard disks broke and became unusuable. The first time, we had backups, but the second time a lot of data was lost.
