Linux Usenet newsgroups

Hello =) I'm interested in getting in on some Linux Usenet newsgroups. The problem is that there's a million of them... alt.linux, comp.linux, comp.os.linux, alt.os.linux, linux.*, etc. I'm just wondering if LQ members have any reccomendations for which among these is the most active, useful, and friendly?

Thanks =)

Like any social contact, you are going to find people that get on your nerves.
Just brush them off and keep going. Except in a newsgroup they may be the most knowledgable.
Read between the caustic words to see if there is any informaton you can use. Discard the rest.

I subscribe to alt.os.linux and the mandrake groups. Both I find useful.

I have a high tolerance for trolls I'm not afraid of going to a newsgroup full of them; I'm more afraid of wasting time reading and posting in a newsgroup where it turns out that activity is practically nonexistant. As long as there's activity, I can deal with idiocy :P

Thanks for the reccomendation for alt.os.linux =) I'll subscribe ASAP...
