Lilo just broke, how do i fix with a live distro?

lilo just broke on my computer, when its doing boot procedures it sais "LIL" then freezes, where it usually prints out "LILO" then moves into the screen that lets you select the OS

im guessing that through some freak accident a bit of the data in the MBR was corrupted that prevents lilo from continuing.

I have both knoppix and LNX-BBC, does anybody know how to fix lilo with one of those? as it is right now I cant boot into linux or windows from my hard drive, my only options are boot disks.

Boot the rescue CD.
knoppix mounts all of your partitions so first umount your / partition, for example:
umount /dev/hda3

mount your Linux / partition, for example:
mkdir /canary
mount -t ext3 /dev/hda3 /canary

Do whatever editing is necessary to /canary/etc/lilo.conf

chroot to your / partition:
chroot /canary

install lilo:
lilo
