RPG?! My goodness, what a blast from the past!
Yes indeed, from someone who knows exactly what that is!
{ Even though 99.9% of the good folks in this forum have not a clue ...
)
Here's the reality... if you've been in the data-processing business long enough, not only to know what 'RPG'
is but to have established a significant portion of your career thus-far in
using it... then "Linux, Business Applications" is actually no-distance-at-all from what you've been doing for
X years.
Your problem .. your
only 'problem,' is to figure out just how to
sell that realization...
... to some "newbie"
who
has not a clue what 'RPG' is. ("These kids today...")
The job-market for
business-worthy 'computer' skills is every bit as strong and vibrant as it ever was. "Linux" is (just ask Linus Torvalds...) "merely the latest variation upon" the same old theme.
Even though you might find yourself "re-tooling yourself" at an uncomfortably-rapid rate, I think that you will
also quickly find that "while things change, things remain exactly the same." The "job market for" your skills will depend, purely and simply, upon your ability to
market them.
